Intervention: Supremacy and Racism in the Workplace -A Focus on personal Finance Impacts and Systems
An accelerated program - new ways of working in right relationship with each other and money.
Why “Intervention”?
We are at a moment where folks are beginning to understand the extent that racism and supremacy impact us. For many it is a shocking time. This is especially true for many White people. Most folks will spend most of their lives in the workplace. We can re-imagine better ways of working in Equity, in wholeness and in right relationship with each other and our money.
Supremacy and Racism are embedded and socialized into everything we do, and the workplace is no exception.
We have a duty, an obligation to build out of the lessons-learned and loss of this unique moment which simultaneously consists going through a global pandemic, demands for justice for Black Lives and Native Lives, demands for LGTBQIA rights, and an economic crisis, all while experiencing a crisis of leadership at many levels.
We owe it to ourselves and others to intervene against Supremacy and Racism.
We have a moral obligation as people, owners of companies, and managers to take steps to ensure that these patterns don’t persist.
Modules (Around 80 minutes each)
1. A walk-through of how White Supremacy and Whiteness shows up at work and impacts to the bottom line in this unparalleled economic and pandemic environment. A focus on discussing economic and personal finance impacts.
2. Who are your team members? A discussion of the layers, or the identities of what make us who we are and how we show up.We will discuss how personal and systemic finance intersect.
3. How do we go from good to great? An anti-racist grounding in historical business and economic socialization.
4. Organizing Equity into teams, orgs and outside independent consultants for resiliency.
Bonus: A deeper dive into Racism, LGTBQIA, and Womens' issues in the workplace as relayed through client and personal experiences, with a focus on financial impacts and investment impacts.
class structure
Classes will be weekly, beginning the first Wednesday of each month at Wednesday 3PM EST with the Bonus class happening the 4th week on Wednesday at 5PM EST.
Each month, new cohorts will start.
Homework assignments, video and readings will be assigned in between classes
We will provide useful handouts as well, that can be taken into the workplace or home.
All classes will be recorded so that you can review, if not able to attend the live classes.
We will have a private Facebook group for community, support for the community in new ways, discussion and learning as we continue together to Divest from these patterns and Invest in Freedom.
